E-Z Block SPECIFICATIONS
Material & Specifications
IRC (International Residential Building Code) approved.
E-Z Block ICF’s material is uniform lightweight Cellular Concrete:
- Compressive Resistance @ yield or 10% deformation ≥ 15psi (ASTM D1621)
- Thermal Resistance Value @ 75°F ≥ 4.0 per inch thickness (ASTM C177 or equiv./ MIL-P-19644)
- Flexural Strength ≥ 35psi (ASTM C203)
- Water Vapor Permeance ≤ 3.5 perm-in (ASTM E96)
- Water Absorption ≤ 3% by Vol. (ASTM C272)
- Dimensional Stability ≤ 2% change in dims. (ASTM D2126)
- Oxygen Index ≥ 24.0 % by Vol. (ASTM D2863)
- Density 15 PCF
The ICF walls resisted a maximum lateral load 6 to 8 times the maximum loads resisted by the frame wall panels.*
Lateral in-plane Load:
When subjected to lateral in-plane loading from sources such as wind or earthquake, the ICF wall panels are not only considerably stronger but also much stiffer than the framed wall panels.*
Materials:
E-Z Blocks are comprised primarily of cement, trapped air and fibers. Other additives are proprietary. Modern cellular concrete is a highly refined process in which microscopic (smaller than a grain of sand) air pockets can be generated or entrained within the cement at a variety of densities. ASTM E84
Flame spread index – 0**
Smoke development index – 0**
E-Z Blocks do not burn, or produce smoke when exposed to flame.
R-Value:
Stead State: 18
Effective: 32-38-39 (Miami – Denver – Phoenix)

*Research was conducted (by the Portland Cement Association) to compare the ability of insulating concrete form (ICF) walls, and conventionally framed walls, to resist structural stresses that can occur during earthquakes… The test setup and procedure followed general guidelines of ASTM E564-95, Standard Practice for Static Load Test for Shear Resistance of Framed Walls for Buildings.
**The ASTM E84 test measures the surface burning characteristics of building materials. E-Z Block received the safest rating possible.
